Know what to expect at your appointment for a Dental Implant Crown
A quick overview of a Implant Crown appointment at Heidi Sprowls DDS
At this point you’ve had 5-6 months of healing after a your dental implant placement, you can expect to be getting your impression for your final Implant crown, as this is typically the timeframe needed for the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone (osseointegration) and for the gums to heal adequately, allowing for the placement of the permanent crown; during this appointment, we will remove your healing abutment place an impression coping, take impression of the impression coping, take an impression of your bite, and place your healing abutment back on your implant. For anterior/front teeth we may recommend doing a custom shade, which would require you to visit the local lab at some point after your appointment. You will then come back in about two weeks to seat the final implant crown.
Time expected for the appointment:
One implant crown: 30 minutes to an Hour
Two implant crowns: 1 Hour
Multiple Implant Crowns: Call office for a more accurate timeframe
What to expect after appointment:
Being that 99% of implant impressions do not need any type of numbing or prep work there should be no issues after the impression is taken.
Things to let us know about:
Healing abutment is off or comes off: Very important to get in as quickly as possible to prevent the gums from closing over the implant.
